I, The Lion– 3 piece post-punk trio from Cheltenham featuring heavy progressive bass lines, twisting guitar riffs, hard hitting drums and melodic harmonious vocals. Think Biffy Clyro via At The Drive In. Broads- A ghostly female vocal and a male vocal parrying with her makes for a nice dynamic, a bit of Portishead and an equally spectral synth pop – less pop more synth gothic, icy and dark.. Broads are a Norwich-based 2-piece who merge programmed electronics, synth drones and gradually-unfolding melody into a delicate, spacious wall of sound. Their fourth full-length album ‘Field Theory’ is due out on Humm Recordings on February 16. Mogwai, Boards of Canada and My Bloody Valentine all resonate within. The Fire Harvest – deep folk informed alt rock indebted to Nick Cave but with a pleasing enough, engaging feel. Slowcore and post punk as evinced on The Fire Harvest’s 2016 album ‘Singing, Dancing, Drinking’ is at once nostalgic and forward-thinking, delicate and weighty. CCCV-Dark but hooky synth driven indie, echoes of early New Order and Cabaret Voltaire also Depeche Mode
