Lyla + Moskito Kiss + Burning Codes

Doors:

Dublin Castle

94 Parkway NW1 7AN London

Gig Description

Lyla- With eleven years providing incredible beats behind The Fall under his belt, the man they call Funky Si, Mr Simon Wolstencroft to you, moved on to working with Ian Brown and lots more ace artists, having once of course beaten the drum for The Stone Roses themselves and been the percussive heartbeat in the pre Morrissey Smiths, or Freak Party as they were known at the time. Last year’s revival of the Freak Party early recordings with Angie Brown on vocals may point some of the way to where Si locates himself now, in the expansively musical, jazz chops bejeweled funky as fook Lyla, fronted by sun kissed saltry singer Laura Ell and complimented by a full line up of exquisitely talented jazz/funk/soul players. Si gets to stretch out with Da Funk at last…Lyla are gonna flip your switch if you dig stuff like Headhunters, Chic, Fatback and The Blackbyrds. Damn groovy. Check out the sounds of the sunshine and enjoy ‘Little White Lies’ and ‘Toe The Line’, Lyla’s debut recordings available to stream, download & buy now. Moskito Kiss – A tale of two legendary drummers tonight….Funky Si and ex Adam and the Ants/Bow Wow Wow/Republica/Chicane legend Dave Barbarossa have crossed sticks before, performing a remarkable drum off at last year’s Polyfest happening in the Dublin Castle (might well be a fixture at this year’s Polyfest on Nov 3rd too!) …Dave B finds himself and his incredible drumming skills behind progressive electropop duo Ooberfuse and here tonight to boot.  Ooberfuse also comprise Hal St John and Cherrie Anderson. An influential UK music critic says: “Ethereal electronic pop with the complex beauty that Ooberfuse has will endure.” Well-crafted songs delivered through powerful, emotional and heartfelt vocals combined with east-meets-west electronic music are Ooberfuse’s trademarks. Burning Codes- Soon to release their new album “Liberator” featuring Ivor Novello winner and Grammy nominee Iain Archer ( James Bay, Jake Bugg, Liam Gallagher, Snow Patrol… ). It’s slowburning grunged up hypnotic indie rock, with hooks aplenty and a possible Placebo influence at times
