Frontier Ruckus at Windmill Brixton promotional image

FRONTIER RUCKUS (Detroit, MI)

The Windmill is ecstatically pleased to announce the return of this fine Michigan band that brought so much joy to a packed-out Windmill on several previous tours. They're back with a new album, "Enter The Kingdom" which was recorded by Wilco drummer Ken Coomer in Nashville and released through Loose Music.

Wavering between the worlds of bluegrass, turn of the century broadsheets and today’s folk-pop, Frontier Ruckus is no mere revivalist outfit; rather more a synthesis of modernity with a rose glassed tint, and unwavering honesty…

This is flawless musicianship combined with a sheer joy of playing, displaying awesome harmonies, some tricky banjo and a singing saw!

“…delicate, finger-picked banjos, aching, oaky violin and the haunting voice of frontman Matthew Milia, who conjures what might happen had Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum been raised in a log cabin. Their songs are full of rich, rural details: frozen lakes, swaying trees, highway lights glowing in the deep night. Add to the mix baleful brass and trembling percussion, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for Gothic Americana.” – Rolling Stone

ROSIE ALENA (full band)

Rosie Alena, is the front woman and songwriter of her self-titled band. She would say her style mainly wavers between psychedelia, folk and rock.

B.W. JOHNSON

Classic mix of alternative-country and folk combined into reflective music. Thoughtful singer/songwriter with strong influences from many eras.
