Singer Steph Knipe started off strumming Rilo Kiley covers back in 2012. Like so many, writing their own material was never Knipe’s intention — though repeat listens of Mount Eeire ‘Great Ghosts’ changed all that. Channeling Phil Elverum, Knipe faces heartache and queer confusion, for making sense of the world is at the forefront of New York-based Adult Mom, confessing lyrically “an artifact of all this shit that I’m going through.”
