Hectic Eclectic Records are delighted to invite you to the much anticipated launch of The Magic Lantern’s third full length LP - ‘To The Islands’.

The Magic Lantern is the musical moniker of Jamie Doe, an artist dedicated to remedying the anxiety and fear present in everyone. ‘To The Islands’ explores memory and hope in a world of near constant uncertainty.

Drawing on a wide range of sounds and textures, from afro-beat grooves, to solo piano, string quintet lyricism to narcotic late night saxophone jams, and united by Jamie’s instantly recognisable voice, enquiring mind and inimitable song-writing style.

The concert will be staged in the round, with video projections, allowing for the full intimate power of this music to be experienced equally on all sides.

Bringing together an incredible ensemble drawn from across London’s jazz and alternative contemporary music scenes, everyone who played on the album will feature at this concert. From a core quartet of Chris Hyson on bass, Dave Hamblett on drums and Zac Gvi on saxophone, clarinet and keyboards, the band will be joined by producer and multi-instrumentalist Fred Thomas and to complete the saxophone trio a further two incredible saxophone players in the shape of Dave Shulman and Mick Foster as well as beautiful mellifluous string quartet sound of the Phaedra ensemble.
