Your favourite science-comedy purveying, grappling doctor of jelly science, is doing their first one hour show all about the joys of jels at Green Man festival in August! This is your chance to see it first, in a bijoux, intimate, fancy-chip purveying London basement location, and help me shake out the problems.
This is three years of government funded PhD research in comedy show form. Plus some demos. Here’s what it’s about:
Building with soft materials that respond to their environment could make technology friendlier to humans and the environment, as well as more resilient. Scary Boots spent their PhD building a 3D printer and found a new way to programme shape-changing jelly to bend. How big is the gap between a discovery and changing the world? Join them to find out why you’d want to work with soft materials and why it’s (ironically) hard. Discover the hype and hope of 3D printing, how tealights are involved and when you can expect these developments in your life (spoiler: not an easy answer). There will be jokes.
