HMSC presents: The Shakedown w/ Wara + Raka!

New River Studios

199 Eade Road N4 1DN London

Gig Description

We are raising money to keep Haringey Migrant Support Centre kickin' and we need your help! We are a small charity that offer legal advice and destitution support to migrants facing the devastating impacts of the hostile environment.

It's time to bring the HMSC family together at the heart of Haringey to rejoice in resistance and cherish each other with borderless music from London's finest fearless dance machines, WARA and RAKA! On election night, one thing's for sure - this will be the winning party!!

Exit polls WILL be shown in the bar area 🤞🎥🎬💡

Driven by the grooves of Afro-Latin music and mobilised by the dynamic sounds of London’s underground, dancefloor pioneers Wara are an unstoppable Havana-UK soundclash and are bringing the heat to Haringey for their only show left in 2019. Their music in their own words:

“As immigrants in London, we learn to make the most of our time here to make our presence count every day. There’s a sense of urgency generated by the uncertainty of whether we will be able to stay for another month, another year, another five years."

Check out their new video here!

Focusing deeply on the traditional folk music of Bulgaria and Macedonia, Raka bring varied styles from the Romani communities of Eastern Europe. Raka are an exciting 9 piece Balkan collective who bring you a heavy dose of upbeat Balkan music destined to drag you from your seats. With an EP set to drop in early 2020, this is going to be a frenzy!
