'Welsh singer-songwriter Skip Curtis has had an enigmatic few years in the music industry. First experiencing industry attention as a record producer rather than an artist and song-writer. In 2014 a desire to write original songs led Skip to establish the ‘fake’ band XY&O to demonstrate his song-writing. Radio stations in the US started playing XY&O songs and the ‘fake’ band became a real one. Debut single ‘Low Tide’ went straight into Spotify’s Viral Top 10 and XY&O found themselves in the unusual position of having a viral hit on their hands having only played one gig. In 2016 the BBC chose them to play at Glastonbury Festival. They had played nine gigs, the biggest music festival in the world was their 10th.
In 2018, Skip began working on solo ideas and has spent the last two years writing and recording his debut solo album planned for release in 2020. His latest single 'Satellite' was added to the BBC radio A-list and a string of live shows both solo and with his band have seen him quickly establish himself as a versatile and dynamic solo performer.
