Deft Left Hand –    part nineties flavoured indie, part classic rock-  elements of Primals , Blondie, Sleeper, Transmission Vamp. Versatile too. Their music also spans 1980s indie and gets agreeably  jangly, even a tad folky.   Two Tree Island –  Sounding not unlike eighties post punk futurists A Flock Of Seagulls… thinking of their prominent synth and jaunty, punchy eye liner rock performances. There could also be a Chameleons influence via all the harder edged 80s synth oriented pop/rock. And something of The Killers. Good stuff. Ryan Van Dordrecht – A series of free-wheeling studio sessions for Ryan Van Dordrecht’s debut record, Undone—out digitally and on vinyl January 2024—made for a happy accident album he didn’t envision. The 10-song collection is a finely-crafted, 1970s-indie soul Americana. It finds Ryan, a talented multi-instrumentalist, supported by a carefully-curated collection of Wrecking Crew-level musicians. “Undone is the kind of thing that happens in your personal and creative lives when you stop trying to control everything,” the Portland, Oregon-based artist details. “I had to come to a new level of maturity to make this record. It is a combination of sounds and people that I love, and it is meant to be a celebration of the idea of coming undone and letting go of control. “ Check it out for yourself tonight. Sammy Vincent – and to open proceedings tonite, a far more British kind of roots troubadour! Interesting that Sammy V has played with The Libertines and Hal Baker as he sounds very much like a blend of both. Frank Turner also springs to mind. Very good too, poetic verbals expressed in a full on, confident manner. Full band. Already some excellent tracks available on streaming services and he has got an EP coming out called Regents in a few months.
