Those Naughty Lumps – down at Erics, Liverpool back in the late seventies, you could find Peter Hart and his Lumps huddled around ‘Iggy Pop’s Jacket’ for warmth. One of the first Zoo Records singles of course, alongside the likes of Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes natch. Peter reconvened this fabulous post punk satirical engine this decade, even though he’s now a professional war historian. Or, perhaps, because he’s etc…anyway, adding Bobby Moore, second vocalist, and a cricketer not a footballer, these old-enough-to-know-better coves make for a hugely entertaining night out. Only this is a matinee gig so you’ll have to take yer chances around 3pm. Go easy on the roast potatoes! Papal Plot – still in the punky ballpark, but a few generations apart, these guys are yer nouveau punk…spirited and witty like all good punk used to be (Lumps natch). With a bit of an Eddie Argos like feel to the lead vocal, gritty and groggy early Buzzcocks cum Swell Maps feel to the beefy, boisterous tunes. A lot to like. The Basement Puppets – The band sound almost psych rock meets nu metal in their rocking out pomp, but the singer is more neo goth post punk schlock horror style in his execution. A new local band with a lot of promise. NB this is a matinee show. Doors 2pm. Evening Show doors 7.30 £10 on door or £8 adv tickets from https://wegottickets.com/event/639636 Flo Wilkes-Hailing from one of the most renowned music scenes globally, 19 year old singer-songwriter and musician Flo Wilkes intertwines the drive of indie-rock instrumentals with the passion of intimate lyricism, establishing a unique sound as recognised in her recently critically acclaimed release, ‘Hopeless’. The Bogards- an alt-rock trio of twenty-somethings hailing from London sending our heavy-hearted cynicism right into your ear holes!
