This book is the official oral history of The Stranglers, mixing hundreds of fan anecdotes with memories from the band, their collaborators, other musicians and celebrity admirers garnered from 50 years of recording and performing. Some call it skinhead reggae, some say boss reggae, whatever you wanna call it, these guys and gal do it brill. Juxtaposing a male singer with a female singer makes for a great experience… it’s all sweet and honeyed tones and soulful proclaiming either way. What a joyful sound. Rocking a full brass front line and the riddim section always maintaining a nicely skanking rocksteady vibe every tune. Tunes like ‘Sweet Soul Music’….’Hurts So Good’…’Everything I Own’ etc. Got the look. Got the chops. Do it wonderfully well. Be sure to put on your dancing shoes.
