The Men From Another World + Ping Pong Disco + Nothing Dreams

Doors:

Dublin Castle

94 Parkway NW1 7AN London

Gig Description

The Men From Another World – ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if you could be a better Cyborg’ muses Lord Numb in his new post alien nation concept rock noir combo…so, futurist dystopian grooves are very much the thang with a certain Wire, Bowie, Magazine like post punk feel via some big power chord rock and roll guitar. Great stuff. Ping Pong Disco – As artfully out there yet groovily party friendly a combo as you could wish to encounter in Camden Town’s greatest pub venue… check ‘Fat Aladdin’s ‘meandering Nile Rodger-style guitar lines and hedonistic Happy Mondays vibe’ and ‘I Need A Drink’s pounding teutonic beats that channel Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb, while elsewhere early Kasabian and Bowie’s funkier period get a cursory prodding. And you should hear what they do to The Laughing Gnome! Meanwhile, ‘Scratcher’s nifty sounds and samples have a Sleaford Mods-do-hip-hop vibe and ’Super Vegetable’ recalls PiL’s collaboration with Leftfield. And any WORLD OF TWIST or Earl Brutus fan will find much to delight too, we will warrant. What a marvellous band! Nothing Dreams – Oxford’s favourite ‘melodic outsiders’ bring their Supergrass meets Radio-head fare back to the DC. DJ Fuzz spins and wins til 2am.
