Pindrop Zine uses its investigative powers to bring you the best bands from Bristol. Without a doubt, some of the most creative music is being made in the South West. Here are the ripest fruit that Pindrop could pick:

BINGO FURY - As Bristol’s beat-jazz Sinatra, Jack Ogborne conjures sultry slow burners that suddenly explode into manic no-wave dissonance with the help of his telepathic group. With a masterful 2024 debut album ‘Bats Feet For A Widow’ under his belt, Bingo Fury is sure to make a mark at the Windmill – a familiar home-away-from-home for the band.

FOOT FOOT - “Art frog snail prog” perfectly encapsulates Foot Foot’s sound. With soft droning pastorality, sax and violin entangle over odd-time-signature motorik. The rhythm section preserves an uneasy, angular base for singer and guitarist Esther Pollock’s gently-spoken lyrics.

EX AGENT - There is no other band like Ex Agent. Their songs splice organised chaos with even more improvised mayhem; each gig is unlike the last. They bleed tense brilliance, often equiped with sax, trumpet, bass clarinet and sometimes a masked dancer. Their ingenuity has lead them to play with legends such as Lee Ronaldo (Sonic Youth) and Mark Stewart (Pop Group).

THE SCUTTLERS - An inventive, unpredictable group who create enthralling art-rock musings. Their frontman has the theatrics of a surreal comedian and the dance moves somewhere between Ian Curtis and David Byrne. It’s not their first time in the capitol, already having played the Village Underground, Shacklewell Arms & Sebright.
