STERLING PRESS - Tipped by BBC 6 Music host Steve Lamacq – who compared them to “early blur” – Sterling Press were snapped up by key tastemaker imprint Fear Records for their ace debut EP ‘Baby Steps’.
BEATTIE Each generation draws from the past to shape the future, and the ’90s eclectic sound inspires artists across genres. Rising singer, songwriter, and producer Beattie channels these influences into a forward-looking style with diaristic lyrics.
Beattie’s voice captivates, shifting from delicate vulnerability to gothic power - a haunting mix of Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval and Lana Del Rey, with hints of PJ Harvey and Elliott Smith. Influenced by evolving yet authentic acts like Radiohead, she crafts contemporary alt-rock echoing Wolf Alice.
Her raw, journal-like lyrics explore young adulthood: navigating city life, losing innocence, and ending relationships, elevated by her poetic phrasing.
FIONA-LEE - For Yorkshire’s Fiona-Lee, the final year of her teens was about as formative as they come. Fraught with grief, uncertainty and frustration, it was a year that forced her to grow up fast, to navigate the kind of hardships that could easily make a person lose hope. Now, she has rounded those experiences into an EP of stoic feminine power, a hand held out to the listener to remind them that life can and must go on; channeling her formidable live vocals, remarkable storytelling and crunching indie sensibilities into guitar-driven anthems that resonate with audiences far and wide.
