A night of robot fighting and live music
LIVE ROBOT FIGHTING, 18:00
- Purpose-built machines do battle in a specially-constructed arena with the aim of immobilising each other
- It's just like Robot Wars except the robots there weighed 110kg while the ones tonight weigh 150g
- Full tournament (gold medal), Rumble (silver medal) and side event (TBC)
- Open arena from 19:35 - have a go on a robot yourself
- Get in touch (tolerablemusic@gmail.com) if you have your own antweight which you would like to enter
- We also sell kits to build your own robot - just add tools and imagination
HUSBAND CALLING CONTEST, 19:55
- Back for one night only!
- Based on the annual contest at the Iowa State Fair, come on up and show us how you call your no-good husband to come here right now and/or tell him off. Loose definitions of "husband" and "calling". We will introduce it with some examples.
- £5 prize for the best call as judged by the host (if we get 4 or more entrants)
LIVE MUSIC
- THWACK!
Formed in the ashes of late capitalist hell (London, 2022), orchestral punk band THWACK! are a high-octane cocktail of camp with a political edge and an undeniable groove, bringing unabashed queer theatricality and raw grit to every performance.
Have you ever destroyed yourself for others’ entertainment?

- Eli Gumble
The night's host and a pretty good singer-songwriter, making some very unique songs. Prepare your bingo cards for looped guitar, heavy overdrive, crazy-sounding ringer pedals, stylophone solos, prop comedy, softer acoustic ballads and completely off-the-wall synthpop, J-pop and reggaeton songs with dance routines. Lyrics have received praise for their thoughtful crafting. You have to see it to understand it and this is the best place to see it.
