Synthetic Hors d’Oeuvres

Born from the free-flowing energy of improvised jam sessions led by Armando Carlo of Stepbrothers, this group channels a hypnotic blend of stoner jazz and post-rock. Their sound—equal parts atmospheric and immersive—draws inspiration from the experimental depths of bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Swans, filtered through a haze of synths and psychedelia.

The Atomic Prune are a young, dynamic, energetic blues trio based in Bucks. Influences include Peter Green, Big Bill Broonzy and Free, creating an authentic traditional sound with a modern edge.

Huw Lloyd

Originating on the outskirts of Wrexham, North Wales, Huw’s work as a singer-songwriter and pianist transcends many genres, blending Blues, Rock N Roll, Pop and Jazz to create complex full-band arrangements with diverse and relatable lyrics which focus on themes from existentialism to love and heartbreak. Playing alongside George Pritchard on guitar, Matteo Firth on drums and Harry Hammond on bass, Huw’s debut EP, “Is Rock N Roll Really Dead?” (Released in Summer 2024) draws a lot of inspiration from the timeless classics of Billy Joel, Elton John and many other groups releasing music before the turn of the millennium. This “retro” attribute of Huws band’s music offers a unique selling point to his music, which combines elaborate chord structures, electrifying solo sections and dynamic performances, leaving audiences wanting more.

Currently Huw and his band are honing their skills at the “Academy of Contemporary Music” in Guildford, where they have already begun to establish themselves as an energetic and professional outfit playing in venues across London and Surrey. With ambitions of releasing an album of his groups best work at the end of this year, there is plenty of new music to expect in the near future.

(Step)brothers

This Anglo-American duo formed after collaborating within each others’ respective projects, and eventually came together as writing partners. Utilising their DIY recording space, their music has a sincere naïveté akin to Car Seat Headrest, Wilco, and Of Montreal. With a love of live music and independent spaces, they have now begun curating gigs as Frankie Boots.
