Gig Description

The Sound Of What’s Left is a documentary celebrating London’s precious and few remaining grassroots gig venues. Join us for for a screening and some live music from acts featured in the film - you might even see yourself in one of the scenes.

The Sound Of What’s Left was filmed over a five month period at two legendary and beloved venues, The Windmill Brixton and The George Tavern. Featuring important voices from these venues' communities as well as insights from the Music Venue Trust and subculture experts, the documentary shines a light on why grassroots venues are more important than ever – and yet they are under threat.

The film was inspired by experiences and conversations had at gigs and the news that 2023 was the worst year on record for the UK’s grassroots music venue sector, with over a tenth of venues closing. The Sound Of What’s Left serves as both a moving tribute and a call to action to protect vital hubs of culture and community.
