Sweet Williams is T. House, sometimes alone; sometimes with friends. This time he’ll be accompanied by a full band comprised of UK underground legends: Tom ‘The Beat’ Barnes on drums, Luke Woodgate (Sloath/Headquarters/Joeyfat) on guitar, Chris Summerlin (Hey Colossus/Lords/Kogumaza/Grey Hairs/etc) on guitar and Joe Thompson (Hey Colossus/AAA Gripper) on bass.
Who knows what they’ll play from a huge back catalogue, including their latest 45-song triple vinyl (!), recently out on Wrongspeed?! What we do know is that it’ll be a sad, gorgeous, effortless slog through slowcore post-punk shoegaze klang-folk meltdowns of all shades.
Smoking Room, aka Misha Phillips, blends influences from shoegaze, outsider folk music, slowcore, musique concrète, post-hardcore and noise rock. lyrical themes addressing gender dysphoria, lonerism, and identity, are sung softly against screeching feedback, assertive drum lines, acoustic guitars caked in tape saturation, and excursions in sound collage.
Fupper: Nostalgic guitars and found sounds wander over loose rhythms while distant vocals and harmonica’s weave in and out on a journey that celebrates imperfection and transience.
