Gig Description

Brass Beats Collective- A high energy dance band comprised of trumpets, trombones, sousaphone, and drums… a mix of choice covers and striking originals composed and arranged by founding member Joel Cooper. Brass Beats Collective have active bands in Manchester, Ipswich, Berlin, and London and line ups vary in size from 4-piece to 6-piece or sometimes 7 including an MC/rapper. Slender Pins– Punchy taut post punkery with elastic bass, split splat sparky drumming and arcing abrasive guitars and a melodically inclined new wave vocal fulla vim. Love it. Elements of The Stranglers, Devo, The Clash, Gang Of 4, Pil…ace…great songs.  Joan Smith & the Jane Does –  Joan Smith & the Jane Does – the sassiest of raunchy rawk gals n guys grinding out some ‘authentic hard rock’ as somebody said. But it’s all supercool and indie in attitude and that’s why they’re so flaming ace. Canadians too. No way could Donald deal with these beauties. Tval –  Northampton based electro duo playing early Kraftwerk type stuff- not very early weird Kraftwerk, but there are some flute sounds in here. Also add a bit of guitar for New Orderliness! Breathy understated vocals and a general vibe of enigmatic disquiet. Excellent. The Hushtones – super Scouse rock pop band. Power it along very well with a Blondie/Garbage vibe via something a bit more hard rocking and kick ass. DJs We Got Killers – beats for dancing til the wee hours.
