GROOVY ARTS CLUB PUNKY NIGHT – Curated by our favourite regular Boho Beat Group, The Groovy Arts Club Band, who perform Tonite alongside Aliens (21st Century Space Punk Blues!), the infamous Vibrators/Falle Angels and Rock N Roll Rescue legend Knox (with a band) and Essex pistol packing punkers The Broken Johnnys (former Vibrator Eddie Edwards will be a busy man tonight as he drums for all concerned!) DJ Mark Bannister spins hot nuggets between the acts to provide a suitably punky and rocking atmos. Aliens are 21st Century Space-Punk Blues (ostensibly hailing from Northampton): Eons ago whilst visiting the legendary Roxy, Aliens saw The Heartbreakers and the Banshees and were mightily impressed. Various Aliens formed a band and played their first gig at aforementioned Roxy; more gigs followed before a diplomatic incident saw them blasting into space seemingly never to return. Incredibly, nearly half a century later Aliens have returned to Earth for a couple of festivals and a handful of gigs. See them before another intergalactic event whisks them into the cosmic dust. The Broken Johnnys from Essex with Eddie on drums; they fly the flag for Punk & have just released an excellent CD album ‘Alien Invasion’, which includes 13 songs: 11 originals, including the epic ‘Sadness Boulevard’ &, of course, one called ‘Aliens’! Plus terrific covers of The Monkees ‘I’m A Believer’ & The Vibrators ‘Judy Says’.
