Gig Description

R. W. Hedges is a London-based folk songwriter whose music draws deeply from the great traditions of the past while carving out a space entirely its own. His work is shaped by influences such as the Everly Brothers, Bert Jansch, Rodgers & Hart, Vashti Bunyan and Dorothy Fields. The result is a sound rooted in the easy-listening era of the 1950s and 60s, filtered through folk, doo-wop and rhythm-and-blues. It’s music that feels timeless yet distinct, existing as a tender escape from the noise of modern life. RW Hedges has truly made his mark in this genre.

Alongside longtime collaborator Luca Nieri, Hedges crafts songs that are textured, melodic and quietly evocative. Nieri’s arrangements, often cinematic in scope, frame Hedges’s delicate songwriting with atmosphere and subtlety, moving between Morricone-like instrumentals and folk standards reimagined with originality. Together, they have created records that stand out for their detail, mood, and emotional clarity. RW Hedges and Luca Nieri’s collaboration is a testament to their artistic synergy.

Hedges’s album The Hunters in the Snow established his reputation as a songwriter of rare character, with songs that blend literary precision and melodic warmth. His follow-up, Year After Year, continued that tradition, further developing his mix of melancholy and melody with a pop sensibility. Both works have been celebrated for their ability to transport listeners into finely drawn worlds, full of charm and understated beauty. The evolution of RW Hedges’s music has captivated audiences around the world.
