The Pogue Traders Saint Patrick’s Day Matinee Special. Doors 1.30pm   – Fantastic to welcome these guys and gal back to the Dublin Castle again, being as they are the finest Pogues homage imaginable, with every note, inflection, reel and run served up with passion, love and credibility. Wonderful stuff, and not so much a tribute as a continuation of that remarkable band’s incredible music. Since Shane McGowan‘s passing, the poignancy, poetry, intelligence and pure joie de vivre of those sensational songs still resonate when they’re being performed so beautifully well.  And needless to say you’re in the best environment possible for a Guinness soaked early start to your St Pat’s party! The wee back room of the Dublin Castle will be all 32 counties, and the whole global Irish global diaspora, for a few hours today. All welcome. Slainte. Released in 2005, “Shots” debuted at the top of the Irish albums chart and achieved platinum status before the year was up, and Dempsey was accordingly honoured as Best Irish Male at the Meteor Awards in 2006 & 2007. Dempsey’s fourth studio album, To Hell or Barbados, was released in 2007. An all-covers album, “Rocky Road”, followed in 2008. Dempsey’s sixth LP, Almighty Love, was released in 2012. Two years later, he followed with No Force on Earth, a project commemorating the 100-year anniversary of the 1916 rising.
