Gig Description

A night of robot fighting and live music

LIVE ROBOT FIGHTING, 18:00

  • Purpose-built machines do battle in a specially-constructed arena with the aim of immobilising each other
  • It's just like Robot Wars except the robots there weighed 110kg while the ones tonight weigh 150g
  • Full tournament (gold medal), Rumble (silver medal) and side event (TBC)
  • Open arena from 19:35 and between music sets - have a go on a robot yourself
  • Live battle music from drummer Shymanic
  • Get in touch (tolerablemusic@gmail.com) if you have your own antweight which you would like to enter
  • We also sell kits to build your own robot - just add tools and imagination

LIVE MUSIC, 20:00

  • The Lunar Keys
The Lunar Keys are 4 anxious types from Guildford with too many tunes and nervous energy trapped in their psyches not to be in this band. Their sound is alternative rock vs neurotic pop.

  • Gabrielle Ornate
    “Modern rock with ancient soul"
Fusing modern-age mythology with an ethereal rock edge and classic pop sensibility, bohemian songstress Gabrielle Ornate embodies female empowerment and deep introspection. Always with a spellbinding message for the subconscious, Gabrielle crafts unique fairy tales and fables that weave into her mystical universe. From melodic earworms and cyclic grooves, to singing guitar leads and infectious riffs that loop in your head, Ornate owns her musical melting pot with eternal conviction.

  • Eli Gumble
The night's host and a pretty good singer-songwriter, making some very unique and original songs. Eli's creative process is "what would be fun to do in this song?", followed by doing it. He has a great time on stage and hopes you do too. Comparisons have been drawn to George Formby, David Byrne and Monty Python, but the set will take on some spacey vibes in keeping with the other performers on the night.
