World Cup 2026: England v Ghana

Doors:

The Harrison

28 Harrison St. WC1H 8JF London

Gig Description

England’s second match in the 2026 World Cup group stage, against Ghana, screened in our King’s Cross basement venue on the big screen. Air conditioned, theatre style seating, proper sound system, cold pints from the bar upstairs.

England and Ghana have only ever played each other once. A 1 to 1 friendly at Wembley in March 2011, with Andy Carroll scoring his first international goal and Asamoah Gyan equalising deep in stoppage time. Fifteen years on, this is their first ever competitive fixture and first meeting in the world cup 2026. Ghana are at their fifth World Cup, four times African champions, and still remembered for being denied a place in the 2010 semi finals by that Luis Suárez handball and Asamoah Gyan’s missed penalty against Uruguay. Captain Jordan Ayew leads the Black Stars to his third World Cup, backed by Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo. Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has had to plan without the injured Mohammed Kudus, who would have been a key creative force.

England arrive under Thomas Tuchel for his first World Cup as manager, with Harry Kane captaining his third tournament (equalling Billy Wright’s record). The squad is built around Kane, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice, with nine tournament debutants getting their first taste of a World Cup. The omissions of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold have made this one of the most debated England squads in years, especially with the stakes high for the upcoming world cup 2026.

A first ever competitive meeting at the World Cup. The kind of fixture worth watching properly rather than craning over shoulders in a packed sports bar.

The Harrison basement is set up as a screening room for England matches. Around 50 theatre style seats, big screen, full bar service. Air conditioning means it stays comfortable even on a 30°C June evening. Food can be ordered from the main pub menu upstairs and brought down.

Booking is recommended. England games fill up fast.
