World Cup Third Place Play Off

The third place play off, screened in our air conditioned basement venue on the big screen. Saturday night, 10pm UK time, from the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

France are confirmed for this one after their surprise 2 to 0 defeat to Spain in the first semi final. They face the loser of tonight’s England v Argentina match, which means Saturday brings either England v France or France v Argentina. Either way, a heavyweight fixture, and Kylian Mbappé, level with Lionel Messi on eight goals at the top of the Golden Boot race, gets one last game to settle it.

Third place play offs have a reputation as some of the most entertaining matches of any World Cup. The pressure is off, both sides want to finish on a win, and the football tends to open up. The last five have produced 17 goals between them, and every one has had at least one team scoring twice.
