Gig Description

Peruvian Jarana Night: Live Afro Peruvian and Criolla Music arana por Canción Criolla: Cantos para Volver a la Tierra (Songs for Returning to the Earth). Spend an evening in Peru without leaving London. On Saturday 31 October, from 6pm to 11pm, The Harrison Pub & Hotel hosts a Peruvian jarana, a lively gathering of live music, singing and dancing. Every 31 October in Peru, people celebrate criolla music, the popular coastal tradition that blends European, African and indigenous sounds. This night brings that spirit to King’s Cross, with the last Jarana of 2026.

Expect the joyful rhythm of festejos, the melancholy of valses, the easy sway of lando and the energy of marineras, played with guitar and cajón. The theme is “Cantos para Volver a la Tierra”, or Songs for Returning to the Earth: a night about home, roots and the music that brings us back to them.

You do not need to know the songs or the dances. If you have never been to a jarana before, this is a friendly place to start. Sing along, dance, or simply listen in a cosy live music venue a short walk from Kings Cross station.

An original creation by Eliana Rosas Aguilar.
