BIG RED

London's premier twangy midwest-style rock trio (for now)

TORTURED DEVICES

.. is a London-based bastardized Americana band, consisting of 1 to 6 people at any given time. Starting out as a solo songwriting project of Turkey-native Baris Isik, the band came together out of the close-knit community of losers and bums who all watched too much TV as kids and all happened to be in Brighton, UK in 2022. Every lie you’ve been told about America, Tortured Devices believe with their heart. Sounding like anything between Pavement, Wilco, The Band, the Beach Boys, or Alex G; their musical existence stands as a play on the classics and the undercurrents of whatever “American Music” is supposed to mean. The only semi-consistency of Tortured Devices is through the alt-country songwriting present throughout their songs, heavily inspired by David Berman’s southern poetics, Bob Dylan’s nonsensical ramblings and Stephen Malkums’ backward pop sensibilities.
