The Butterflywheel – Highly accomplished stuff with a strong image (sort of fairy Volk cum steam punk) and a great singer- 2 girls (vocals, bass), 2 guys (drums, guitar), plus some doubling up on cold wave synths… dark electronica, Doorsy rock and a kind of Grace Slick/Patti Smith vibe vocally. Strong. ”The Butterfly Wheel is a transformative force in music, offering more than just songs—it’s an invitation to journey into realms of deep emotion and universal truth. At the forefront is Alice Ancient’s haunting voice, drawing listeners into the experience with raw intensity. This is matched by shamanic rock drums that pulse like a heartbeat, grounding the music in primal energy. Myrrh Moon’s shadow-laden chords guide listeners through both light and dark, while Ryan Hewitt’s psychedelic guitar riffs open pathways to introspection and transcendence. Together, they craft an immersive soundscape that transcends entertainment, connecting audiences to something greater and timeless, sparking liberation and self-discovery.” The Anderson Tapes- Blissfull, gently ebbing shoegaze with some pretty harmony vocals recalling Galaxie 500 gives way to something a bit more c86 and abrasive Raincoats that sorta thing, great stuff. Rosemary – aromatic psych pop supreme, named after the herb and not Mrs West…we think… The New Republic – Latter day Arctic Monkeys nuances delivered with some crisp pop tropes and a lot of playfulness in the tunes. Good stuff, highly commercial but really engaging- ”Infectious indie rock outfit The New Republic punch through the hearts of those who thirst for dynamism” DJ Sue – Camden Town DJ legend til 2am
