Gig Description

Neovenator – distributing the glorious first fruits of their deal with the inestimable Flicknife Recs, the dinosaur to die for marvels that are Neovenator keep the big hitting new old new wave classics coming. Sucking up cool influences like Pil, The Stranglers and Alex Harvey and hitting it all up with a soupcon of steampunk gnarliness and Who like intensity. The single ‘Air Raid Diren Repair Man’/‘While The Cat’s Away’ is a blinder to. Buy 3! Great stuff. Groove Toys – punkiness and psych prog undertones (overtones?) puts this in that ballpark the people at Organ Fanzine used to call ‘Pronk’…marvellous work with crisp drums and playful but sonorous singing. Puts the world to rights most entertainingly. Daddy Those Men Scare Me – Edmonton’s finest…punk pop with just enough sardonic comedy not to be ‘a comedy band’, and lots of edge and musical nous. These boys can play and spin a tune really well. Just a hint of finger in the ear folk too. Just a hint mind! NB our International Women’s Day Special Event is the evening show and will be ticketed separately. HERE. https://wegottickets.com/event/691319/ Celina Rescott – Fabulous American band, fronted by the titular Celina, who excels in some groovy bluesy wailing over a frenetic, indie band backing. The Gossip could be a touchstone. Great work. Charlotte Fox – raunchy rocking fare with a Country twist and a heap of sass. Vianne – in a similar musical territory to the likes of Zero 7, The Cinematic Orchestra, José González and alt-J.  “Vianne is the soundtrack to your sobering journey home” Lara Brewer – RnB , soul and dance pop blended as a beautiful vehicle for the vocal talents of Lara B…and what a great voice she has too, check ‘8 Ball on streaming. Kind of in the Christine Aguilera, Ariana Grande mould, and maybe a hint of Amy. Sammy Starr is your DJ spar til 2am
