Payola + Distorted Model + Kill Bosco + Pin - Up Gurus

Payola – Classic indie rock fare… Abrasive early Arctic Monkeys guitars and a bit of classic Britpop swagger, damn fine tunes too. Distorted Model – hooky female fronted dreampop via old school jangly indie such as The Darling Buds … Kill Bosco – also hooky as in Peter Hooky what with the probing bass lines, uber indie chiming guitars and a keening Manics like melodic appeal. Zippy power-pop/indie rock. Pin – Up Gurus – marvellously moody Gothic psych. Some nifty guitar work and stomping rhythms and a sultry vocal. Slinky, sinister, sassy. Sure. Some great dramatic tension with build ups to intensity Alt rock of a QOTSA type in there too but mostly kind of Iggy / Dream Syndicate / Jim Carrol vibe. Very good. DJ Fuzz til the wee hours.
